The rift has been sealed. CAPRA has been stopped. The earthquake has come and gone, and the people of Pacific Glade are picking up the pieces. In this elegy, the Inspector reflects on the friends he lost that day, and marvels at the strength of this little town that has survived so much.

- This is one of two stories in the Neverglades series to be narrated by the Inspector himself, the other being "A Thousand Glistening Threads." It is also the only Neverglades story to be told largely in third person.
- As of this story, the surviving Hannigans are now living with Marconi and Janine.
- This story marks the beginning of a partnership between the Inspector and Marconi, which will continue into Volume Two.
