Overview[]
Point of Divergence[]
- Rory's timeline diverged from the prime timeline of the series during the events of "Devour," in which the Inspector sacrificed himself to seal the rift instead of Mark Hannigan. The resulting explosion ended up blowing up part of the moon and unleashing a swarm of rift monsters into the world. Olivia Marconi tried organizing a resistance movement, but she and most of Pacific Glade's population were slaughtered by the monsters. Three years after the Inspector's death, Mark and Rory are the only survivors left in the ruins of their town.
Brother's Keeper[]
- With reality in flux, Rory occasionally slips between worlds and finds himself visiting an alternate version of his brother Stephen Hannigan from the prime timeline. He ends up saving Stephen's life when a monstrous doglike entity also slips through the rift and attacks his brother. He recognizes that Stephen is on the move and asks if he's coming home, before slipping back into his own dimension.
Dark Side of the Moon[]
- Rory is guarding the CAPRA bunker when Mark brings Ruth Hannigan, Zachary Atwater, and the Ferryman to safety there. He is more understanding of the alternate timelines than his father, having visited one himself, although he keeps this secret. He fights alongside the group as they take on a swarm of Lurkers in the Hanging Rock, and happily greets Stephen when he reaches the Moonverse too. He and Mark ultimately stay behind in their world, reasoning that they can't abandon their version of Ruth yet.
Journey's End[]
- Rory travels with Mark through the desolate roads of the Moonverse, scavenging where they can and looking for survivors. He ends up convincing Mark that there's nothing left for them in this world anymore and that they should take the Inspector's offer to return to the prime timeline. Adapting to their new "normal" is difficult at first, but eventually they settle into a period of relative peace with their newfound family.
