“What else could I have done? Let the humans die? That was never an option.”

The third story in The Neverglades: Multiverse Chronicles.
When enormous “kaiju” creatures threaten major American cities, the Inspector comes out of the shadows to defend the nation as a superhero called the Purple Specter. But there’s a horrific secret behind the kaiju invasion, and the Specter will have to confront the ugly consequences of his heroic deeds…
Characters[]
- The Purple Specter (The Inspector)
- The Violet Knight (Mark Hannigan)
- The Commissioner (Olivia Marconi)
- Valentina Koeppel (Secret Agent)
- Rylan Jones
Settings[]
- Pacific City, WA
- New York City
Notes[]
- This story’s main point of divergence from the “prime timeline” was the introduction of the kaiju invasion and the rise of the superhero industry. Pacific Glade also has grown enough to be known as Pacific City.
- This story includes many homages to Marvel and DC comics and films. The character of Rylan Jones is an analogue to Tony Stark, albeit with more questionable morals. Pacific City is an analogue to Gotham, while the Violet Knight and Commissioner Marconi are analogues to Batman and Commissioner Gordon, respectively. Valentina appears to be an agent for an organization similar to S.H.I.E.L.D.
- The Purple Specter is later recruited by Meta Mark to take on the Sightless in “Blood Moon.”
